Panel Housings for Filters

Panel Housings

Panel housings by AAF are designed to hold air filters in different applications and increase efficiency of air filtering and purification.

HVAC HEPA Housing

HVAC-HEPA

AAF manafactures high-quality side access systems for High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters. Designed to meet the stringent requirements of HEPA filter applications, HVAC HEPA housings perform reliably, even in the toughest environments. Our innovative design ensures uniform and constant pressure against the sealing surface of the HEPA filter. These housings are available with prefilter tracks to meet the exacting specifications of HEPA filtration.

Gasket seal HVAC HEPA housings have a rugged, crank lock mechanism which delivers over 1,400 pounds of force on each filter cartridge. This manual mechanism is actuated from the side of the unit and permits visual observation of gasket compression as pressure is applied. Each mechanism handles up to three filters wide. A second door is available on units up to three filters wide. Two doors are standard on units four through six filters wide.

Prefilter Capability. HVAC HEPA housings are available with a 2″ or 4″ wide prefilter track. Blank-off panels are provided to prevent prefilter bypass. Prefilters are accessed through the final filter access door.

AAF HEPA filters feature a wide range of efficiencies, cell side materials and separator designs. AAF manufactures and tests every filter to ensure it meets its rated efficiency.

Side Access Carbon

Side-Access-Carbon

The Side Access Carbon filter housing is designed for use with air handling units or other side access equipment. Built for conveniently servicing the filter from outside the air duct; especially suited for installations involving limited headroom. The Side Access Carbon housing is a gas phase filtration system, removing gaseous contaminants, which cannot be captured by particulate filters, from the airstream through adsorption, or chemical neutralization. During the adsorption process, gaseous molecules are physically attracted to the surface of the adsorbent medium where they are captured and retained.

The Side Access Carbon housing is offered in various sizes spanning heights from nominal 1′ through 8′, and widths from nominal 1′ through 12′. Capacities range from 1,000 CFM to 48,000 CFM at 500 FPM. Larger sizes are also available.

The Side Access housing was specifically designed to meet IAQ air cleaning requirements when used with AAF high-efficiency prefilters treated with antimicrobial. The Side Access housing is ideal for removing the gaseous contaminants, including VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), that cause allergic reactions, discomfort, and health risks.

Side Access Vee-bank Prefilter

Side-Access-Vee-Bank

The Side Access Vee-Bank filter housing is engineered for use with air handling units or other side access equipment. It offers the convenience of servicing the filter from outside the air duct. Ideally suited for installations involving limited headroom. The Side Access Vee-Bank housing is a general purpose filter housing that provides mechanical strength, ease of use and economy. The Side Access Vee-Bank housing is used when only prefilters are required and you need to double your capacity.

The Side Access Vee-Bank housing is designed to operate at up to 6″ WG negative or positive pressure. Optional high-pressure construction is available for service up to 10″ WG negative or positive pressure.

The Side Access Vee-Bank housing is offered in 96 sizes, spanning heights from nominal 1′ through 8′, and widths from nominal 1′ through 12′. Capacities range from 2,000 CFM at 500 FPM to 120,000 CFM at 625 FPM. Larger sizes are available. The Side Access Vee-Bank housing is designed to expand using standard sizes as building blocks. For example, a nominal 16’ wide unit can be built using two 8′ wide modules or an 8′ high unit using two 4′ modules. Modules are factory pre-engineered for field installation.

AstroSeal® Type S

AstroSeal-S

Designed to meet the stringent requirements of HEPA filter applications, AstroSeal® Type S housings are engineered to perform reliably, even in the toughest environments. The AstroSeal® Type S was specifically developed to perform as efficiently as your HEPA filters. The innovative design ensures uniform and constant pressure against the sealing surface of the HEPA filter. Type S housings are available with prefilter tracks to meet the exacting specifications of HEPA filtration.

Side Access Polyseal

Side-Access-Polyseal

The Side Access Polyseal filter housing is engineered for use with air handling units or other side access equipment. It offers the convenience of servicing the filter from outside the air duct and is especially suited for installations involving limited headroom. This housing is a general purpose filter housing that provides mechanical strength, ease of use and economy. It will accommodate both 2″ and 4″ prefilters and final filters used in combination or individually.

The Polyseal filter track sealing system utilizes a high-density Nylon piled gasket which is automatically positioned against the final filter as it is installed into the mounting track. The integrity of the seal is ensured because it is “air actuated.” The air pressure on the upstream side of the filter dynamically forces the filter against the gasket. The air passes through the filter and is cleaned — no dirty air bypass. Vertical sealing between filters is provided by gasket strips applied to the sides of the final filters and to the doors of the housing.

The Side Access Polyseal housing was specifically designed to meet IAQ air cleaning requirements when used with AAF high-efficiency filters treated with an antimicrobial.

Side Access Leverlock

Side-Access-Leverlock

Access doors are hinged and have over-center draw type plated latches. The doors seal against the housing with closed cell neoprene gaskets. The standard Side Access Leverlock housing is furnished with one door. A second door is optional.

The Side Access Leverlock housing has exceptional structural strength. It utilizes turned-out flanges, welded construction, vertical supports, and angle braces. The Side Access housing is designed to operate at up to 6″ WG negative or positive pressure. Optional high pressure construction is available for service up to 10″ WG negative or positive pressure.

The Side Access Leverlock housing is offered in 96 sizes, spanning heights from nominal 1′ through 8′, and widths from nominal 1′ through 12′. Capacities range from 1,000 CFM at 500 FPM to 60,000 CFM at 625 FPM. Larger sizes are available.

Housing depth. Standard depth is 22″. It is designed to enclose both a prefilter and a final filter, such as the
DriPak®, VariCel® or VariCel® V.

Side Access Flatbank Prefilter Housing

Side-Access-Flatbank

Side Access Demister

Side-Access-Demister

Engineered for use with air handling units or other side access equipment, the Side Access Demister offers the convenience of servicing the filter from outside the air duct. Ideal for installations involving limited headroom.

The Side Access Demister is designed to protect high-efficiency filters; air handling equipment; and the served space from mist, fog and other liquid droplets. The unit consists of coalescing filters in a slim 12″ housing, compatible with all other AAF side access equipment. The basic operating principle of the Side Access Demister is a combination of impingement of entrained moisture, coalescence or growth of captured droplets, and gravitational flow to the drain.

Fugitive industrial mists often challenge air handling systems in manufacturing plants. While the primary recommendation is source capture of such contaminants, complete capture is often impossible. Low concentration oil mist, coolant mist and other liquid contaminants can be effectively stripped from the return airstream. The end result will be enhanced air quality, reduced maintenance and more effective coil performance.
