AIVY Compact™

AIVY RC™
AAF’s AIVY RC™ is a modular cartridge dry dust collector highly efficient in a wide range of air flows: from 600 cfm to 80,000 cfm. Adaptable and configurable, it allows increasing the number of cartridges depending on the filtration needs by simply adding additional modules. Used primarily for abrasive applications.

AIVY Compact SPK™
The Compact SPK™ is a cartridge dry dust collector designed to meet safety standards required for air filtration in the metal working industry. It features a side inlet for spark reduction applications.
AIVY Compact SPK™ is a Plug & Play dust collector with an integrated spark arrestor, specially designed to meet metalworking industry needs on those applications where sparks are generated. Designed as a compact solution, it integrates all the elements required for an agile, easy installation and start-up, including an integrated fan, electrical panel, dust bin and self-cleaning system.
Available in several sizes, it can handle a wide range of airfows, between 600 CFM and 12,000 CFM, with a smaller footprint than other dust collection systems operating in the same filtration.

AIVY Compact SPK™ introduces a new filter support structure that eliminates the need of a mandril to support the cartridges. This new design decreases resistance to clean air passing through the cartridges to reach the clean chamber resulting in a notable improvement in pressure drop reduction.

How Do Cartridge Dust Collectors Work?
Cartridge filters are contained within a housing, through which dirty air flows, running through the filters, removing particulate from the air. The filters are made from pleated material, and dust is collected on the outside of the filter. Cartridges are either cylindrical or oval in shape, and traditionally, they are supported by a metal or fabric framework.
The filters themselves may be made from a variety of materials, usually with a outer coating designed for the specialized application for which the filter was designed. Some coatings may include oil-resistant coatings, nanofibers, spunbound material, water-resistant coating, or anti-electrostatic coatings.
How do cartridge dust collection systems work? Dirty air enters through an inlet, passing through the filters in the dirty air plenum, where particulate is caught on the outside of the filters. Air is circulated through a drop-out zone, and the clean air moves through a clean air plenum, exiting though a clean air outlet.
Cartridges may be mounted horizontally or vertically, depending on the application and equipment. Some cartridge units have a handful of cartridge filters, while large industrial applications may have dust collectors with over a hundred cartridges.
Cleaning Cycles
The majority of cartridge dust collectors use pulse jet cleaning cycles to remove particulate from the outside of the filters. Compressed air travels down the length of the filter in the opposite direction of the dirty air flow, causing a ripple which dislodges the dust for collection in a hopper.
Advantages of Cartridge Dust Collectors
Cartridge dust collectors work best where the dust particulate is dry and moves freely. Cartridges are continuous cleaning, meaning low downtime, the filters are relatively easy to change out, and cartridge collectors are usually very energy efficient.
These dust collection systems are very versatile, and are good for many industries. Cartridge filters are very efficient for small particulate with efficiencies reaching 99.97% at 0.3 microns. A cartridge dust collector has a small footprint compared to a baghouse, and they can often be fit indoors or in compact floor plans. They need little space to have a large air filtration capacity.
